STANDING RULES
(as revised 2009-07-12)
1) MEETINGS
A) GENERAL:
General meetings shall be held on the second Sunday of each month, excepting December. Individual meetings may be moved to a different date to avoid conflicts with holidays or other events, by agreement of the membership at the January meeting. The November meeting shall be known as the Annual Meeting. Additional meetings may be called by the Executive Board or the President.
B) EXECUTIVE BOARD:
The Executive Board shall meet only when necessary, such meetings being held in conjunction with the general meeting, or by special request of the President, or upon written request of three (3) members of the Executive Board.
2) COMMITTEES
A) PROGRAM:
The Program Committee Chairperson shall provide an agenda for the order of events to be held at each general meeting. He/She shall provide the sound equipment to be used at each meeting.
B) RESEARCH:
The Research Committee Chairperson shall be responsible for compiling square dance choreography and submitting it to the Secretary for publication. He/She shall coordinate with the Program Committee Chairperson for the presentation of such material to the General Assembly.
C) MEMBERSHIP:
The Membership Committee Chairperson shall review all applications for membership and changes of classification and forward all findings and recommendations to the Executive Board. He/She shall also be responsible for ordering the appropriate membership badges for approved applicants. Upon approval of the Executive Board, said badges shall be presented to the applicant at the following General Meeting.
D) PUBLICITY:
The Publicity Committee Chairperson shall publicize the Association and its activities.
E) HISTORICAL:
The Historical Committee Chairperson shall keep a history of the activities of the Association and compile and maintain a scrapbook of such activities.
F) WEB:
The Web Committee Chairperson shall be responsible for the design, maintenance and hosting of the Association's website, and the associated domain name(s).
G) DANCE:
The Dance Committee Chairperson shall be responsible for organizing and programming any dances sponsored by the Association. Per Article III, Section 4, Part E of these By-Laws, this position is to be filled by the Immediate Past President of the Association.
H) SUNSHINE:
The Sunshine Committee Chairperson shall be responsible for sending get-well and sympathy cards to members or friends of the Association who have suffered significant illnesses, injuries or losses, and also responsible for bringing such situations to the attention of the Association's membership by reporting at each General Meeting.
3) DUES
The dues of this Association shall be $35 per year for all classifications of membership, unless the member is under 18 years of age. Dues for members under 18 years of age are to be $20 per year, with this amount to be reviewed in January of each year.
4) LIMITATIONS OF TREASURER
"Normal continuous operation of the Association" shall be defined as payment of hall rent for meetings, expenses for publishing the note service, postage, advertisements in "Square Dance - Where?", advance payments of hall rent for hoedowns, insurance and any expenses under $30.
5) ACTIVE/INACTIVE MEMBERS
ACTIVE members, as defined in the current By-Laws, shall be eligible to participate in all activities of the Association, whereas;
INACTIVE members shall not be eligible to participate in Association dances as Callers or to serve as Committee Chairpersons.
